Video visits (Telemedicine)

In many cases, primary care and hormone therapy visits with Dr. Maddie Deutsch can be conducted using a computer for a video visit.  This process involves using a videoconferencing technology (like "Skype" or "Facetime"), and allows you to have a doctor visit in the privacy of your own home or location of choice. Video visits allow you to avoid the time and expense associated with traveling to San Francisco. Most insurance plans are required by California law to cover these visits as they would for an in-person visit.  Medicare currently does not cover telemedicine/video visits.

Telemedicine visits require prior approval by your provider, as well as special scheduling considerations.  If you would like to schedule a telemedicine visit, please contact our office for further information.

Requirements:

  • Computer with a webcam
  • High speed internet access
  • A quiet and private place
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Must be located in California at the time of the telemedicine encounter
